What we do


The IFROH Office, Kenya facilitates the expanded presence and operations for researchers from the University of Whales and its affiliates in Kenya. We work in collaboration with key partners including the Ministry of Health, Clinical Trial Association, donors and other local partners to implement programs and ensure project goals are met. Located in Nairobi and Kisumu, our project staff has expertise in surveillance, epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation, training and capacity building and health informatics.

We are Hiring in Kenya and Ghana.

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS Institute for Research on Health (IFROH) is driven by the idea that when the best research, the best education, and the best patient care converge, great breakthroughs are achieved. IFROH in Partnership with the National Institute of Health is pursuing this integrated excellence with a singular focus, fueled by collaboration among our top-ranked professional and graduate schools, medical center, research programs, and support teams.

Roles and Responsibilities: Attend the scheduled training to clearly understand the purpose of the study and how they will be involved in the study Conduct data abstraction from in-patient medical electronic data abstraction tools Uphold data quality procedures throughout the study Ensure data is collected safely and transmitted to the designated central location Act as the point of contact to respond to any data quality and management concerns related to the abstraction of in-patient medical files for PMTCT Mothers. Provide routine progress reports to the study coordinator Perform other duties and assignments assigned

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a health-related field; those with experience in directly supporting COVID-19 in-patients will have an added advantage Experience in collecting quantitative data or abstracting data from existing records in a health facility is key Experience in electronic collection of public health data; experience in using ODK is key Knowledge and understanding of public health issues.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within the public health system/facilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in using Microsoft office and strong typing skills Fluency in English or Swahili Willingness to be based in Kilifi, Homabay, Mandela, Kakamegs for the duration of the research project Experience in in-patient clinical practice Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
